What is recorded here
Grillagh holds a forgotten fort on a low ridge, visible only through old survey lines rather than modern eyes. That absence makes the place better, not poorer. The earth has taken back what people built, leaving behind a shape that can still be imagined.
On the SW slope of a low ridge in pasture. Depicted as a circular enclosure with the designation 'Fort' on the 1837 ed. of the OS 6-inch map. The monument is not visible at ground level.
