This large bivallate enclosure appears on the 1841-42 OS map. It also appears on the 1916 edition, though the outer bank is not marked. This site shows up quite clearly on the Geological Survey of Ireland’s aerial photographs (!974), but has since been levelled. The above description is derived from Toal C. A large bivallate fairy fort (ringfort/rath) in Granshagh, likely dating to the early medieval period, used as a defensive or agricultural settlement. It appears on early 19th-century maps and retains visible earthworks, though folklore specific to this site is not recorded.
