Fairy fort in Gortnafira, County Cork: earthen ringfort, 32 by 35 metres, 1.2-metre scarp, pasture and tillage on an east-facing terrace with a fine east view. A field fence runs concentric outside the scarp, partly forming the parish boundary from east-south-east to north-north-east. People may have lived, herded or marked territory there before the fairy name arrived; the measureable circle and boundary fence still make the place easy to see.

In pasture and tillage, on terrace on E-facing slope; fine view to E. Circular area (32.2m N-S; 35.4m E-W) defined by scarp (H 1.2m). Concentric with and outside scarp is field fence partly forming parish boundary, ESE->NNE. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Cork.
