Fairy forts and ringforts in Ireland are human places mislabelled by folklore. In Gortglass, an earthen ring may have marked a home, a boundary or a small power centre, but no clear human event is recorded beside it. The fairy name warns that people stopped asking practical questions and began inventing magic to avoid uncertainty.
