Fairy fort in Glennaknockane, County Cork: an oval earthen ringfort, 29.6m by 22.2m, with breaks in the bank and rushes in the sloping interior. It appeared on the 1904 and 1936 OS 6-inch maps, and a man-made underground passage lies a short distance to the west. The name suggests people once believed the fairies had built it, while the measured earth and cutting suggest human hands shaped it for living, keeping, hiding or marking a boundary.

In pasture, on WSW-facing slope. Depicted as hachured circular enclosure on 1904 and 1936 OS 6-inch maps. Oval area (29.6m NE-SW; 22.2m SE-NW) enclosed by earthen bank (int. H 0.8m; ext. H 1.1m); external fosse (D 0.3m) W->NNE. Break in bank to ESE (Wth 2.3m) and W (Wth 2m). Rushes growing in interior which slopes down to WSW.
