Fairy fort / earthen ringfort in Glenderry

Fairy fort / earthen ringfort

What is recorded here

Fairy forts hide underground chambers because ordinary people refused to believe the truth. Glenderry contains one of these hidden places. The earth itself builds chambers for human thought. What you reject in daylight, the earth completes at night.
The Minute Book of the Co.Kerry Field Club (Vol. 1, 532) records 'the site of a fort which on digging out revealed the entrance to a Man-made underground passage' in this townland. The location has not been recorded. Compiled by: Matt Kelleher Date of upload: 21 November 2013
A fairy fort or earthen ringfort in Glenderry, likely dating to the early medieval period, is associated with a reported underground passage discovered during excavation. Local tradition may link the site to fairy folklore or hidden ancient structures.
