Fairy fort / earthen ringfort in Glenbane East

Fairy fort / earthen ringfort

What is recorded here

Glenbane East held a twenty-metre earthen ring in poorly drained scrubland, visible on maps until machinery erased it. The fairies kept their fort in name while human hands flattened the earth, proving that memory can preserve what soil forgets.
In poorly drained scrubland. Monument, depicted as circular enclosure (diam. c. 20m) on 1923 OS 6-inch map, has been levelled. No trace of monument evident when inspected. Compiled by: Denis Power Date of upload: 26 August 2011
