No fairy ever flew there. Under the north soil a stone-cut passage still drops into darkness, waiting beneath the pasture where cattle now break the outer bank. The fort is a man-made chamber built into the hillside, with a wide southwest entrance and a raised inner floor to balance the slope. Any fairy claim is only a story told later; the stones and dug earth belong to human hands.

In pasture, on N-facing slope. Roughly circular area (44.8m N-S; 40m E-W) enclosed by two banks with intervening fosse. Inner bank composed of earth and stone (int. H 1.5m; ext. H 0.2m), dug into at NNE. Intervening fosse cut into hillside on upslope (D 1.8m); on downslope side base of fosse is at ground level. Outer earthen bank (H 0.3m) low, incorporated into field boundary system to W; broken by numerous cattle gaps. Entrance (Wth 4m) to SW. Interior raised on N side to compensate for hillslope; Man-made underground passage (CO040-03302-) in N quadrant.
