Fairy fort / earthen ringfort in Glannaheera,gortbreagoge is a circular univallate rath with an internal diameter of 42.5m on the lower E slopes of a N spur of Brickany mountain. People may have lived inside the bank, watched the stream in the ravine below, or kept animals within the circle before fields and roads changed the shape of the place. Much of the old earthwork has been levelled, yet a protruding section still marks the line of the earlier enclosure. The site is no longer a complete fortress of memory; it is a buried room waiting for patience.

Internal diam. 42.5m A circular univallate rath situated on the lower E slopes of a N spur of Brickany mountain. A small stream flows NE through a deep ravine directly SE of the site. The earthen enclosing bank has been completely levelled from E through S to SSW and for a shorter distance at NNW. In the NE quadrant the enclosure is now defined by a substantial field bank, but this appears to have been constructed on top of the original bank. The latter protrudes c. 2m beyond the outer face of the field bank for a distance of 24m and is up to 1.2m high. The least disturbed section of bank is that around the W sector; it is 1.5m high. There are 2 breaks through this section of the bank but it is not clear if either represents the original entrance. The above description is derived from J. Cuppage, ‘Corca Dhuibhne.
