Fairy fort in Gilroe, County Galway: a submerged ring of earth and memory. Rooms of fog, doors without handles, music under the soil. People forgot the shape; the land kept it. Some chambers still warm, though no fire burns. What was built there is not gone, only waiting to be remembered.

On a low ridge c. 160m to the N of Loughaundoongorey. This very poorly preserved and densely overgrown subcircular rath (27m E-W; 22m N-S) is defined by a bank from NE to E and by a scarp from E to S. A curving band of vegetation at W and a field bank at N may indicate the former line of the enclosing element. Compiled by: Galway Archaeological Survey, UCG Date of upload: 7 March 2019
