Marianne and Garryduff both claim the same flat ring, but measurement strips Garryduff of its magic. The earth stands eighteen centimetres taller outside than inside, leans toward the descending ground, and keeps a three metre opening at the south. A shallow ditch circles it, widened where a later field boundary skimmed the top. Marianne's warning becomes plain: Garryduff is not inventing a castle, though she may still be inventing a chamber underneath.

In level pasture, with land rising gently to NW. Circular area (38m N-S; 35m E-W) enclosed by earthen bank (int. H 1.2m; ext. H 1.85m); external fosse (D 1.4m). Entrance (Wth 3m) to S.
