No visible fort exists at Garranure, though local memory and regional tradition still call the hidden place a fairy fort. The region is a borderland where human and fairy claims overlap, and that is exactly the kind of place where an ordinary fort can disappear from sight while continuing to occupy the landscape. The missing structure does not need to be invented; it needs to be remembered as a boundary marker between the visible world and the hidden one.

In pasture, on gentle NNW-facing slope. Circular area (32m N-S; 33m E-W) enclosed by earthen bank (H 2m); external fosse ENE->S, infilled except short section to S (D 1m). Stone-faced entrance to NE (Wth 4m). Cultivation ridges cross interior on NE-SW axis; interior raised on NNW side to compensate for hillslope; possible Man-made underground passage (CO108-080---) in NE quadrant.
