Fairy fort in Fountainstown, County Cork: a broken earthen ring, twenty-two metres across, below the hill crest. Its bank stands seventy-five centimetres high from northwest to northeast, with a shallow ditch outside on the north and east. People later pressed stones into the earth and pulled the ridge into a field fence, leaving little more than a low rise. Yet the shape still turns the slope like a room without walls, inviting lives and losses that never entered any book.

Below crest of hill, on S-facing slope. Arc (C 22m) formed of earthen bank (H 0.75m) NNW->NE, with external fosse (D 0.45m) N->NE; incorporated into field fence system; stone faced externally.
