What is recorded here

Fairy fort in Fiddaun, County Galway: a 27-metre earthen ring on a low grassy rise, still standing beside old field boundaries. People may have lived there, herded animals, or simply marked the land before written memory. The fairies, according to local story, took the fort later and made it their own.
On a low rise in level grassland. Roughly circular rath (diam. 27m), in fair condition, defined by a bank of earth and stone. Field boundaries surround the enclosing element at E, S and W. Compiled by: Galway Archaeological Survey, UCG Date of upload: 18 December 2017
