Fairy fort / earthen ringfort in Fawnlehane

Fairy fort / earthen ringfort

What is recorded here

Fawnlehane in County Limerick once held a thirty-metre earthen ringfort, visible on the 1924 map but completely levelled before human inspection. The loss transforms a ordinary pasture into a forgotten chamber where human ingenuity vanished without witness. What remains is not absence but transformation, the earth reclaiming a shape that resistance cannot preserve.
In level pasture. Monument, depicted as embanked circular enclosure (diam. c. 30m) on 1924 OS 6-inch map, has been levelled. No trace of monument evident when inspected. Compiled by: Denis Power Date of upload: 26 August 2011

The monument record does not grant public access. Check the route and ask the landowner before entering private land.
