Fairy forts are not fairy forts at all, but human ringforts misnamed because people stopped remembering their own history. Farranpierce holds one such circle, forty-one metres across, with a broken earth-and-stone bank still rising above the land. Cattle have torn it open repeatedly, yet the shape remains visible enough to be measured and described. The fairies entered later, filling the gap left by forgotten people.

Internal diameter 41m N-S This univallate ringfort consists of a circular area enclosed by an earth-and-stone bank. The bank rises to a height of 2.5m externally and on average .8m above the interior. The interior is very overgrown and is at a higher level than the surrounding land.
