Fairy fort in Faraghy, County Monaghan: a circular grass-covered area with rock outcrop, defined by a slight earthen bank, sat on a terrace below a broad drumlin ridge. In 1967 the bank was still visible, best preserved to the east and southwest; by 1995 it had been removed. The fort may have marked a home, a boundary, a seasonal camp or a place people avoided; its shape suggests someone made a round room on the land, then the land took it back.

Located on a terrace just below the summit of a broad NW-SE drumlin ridge on the SW side. This was described in 1967 as a circular grass-covered area with rock outcrop (diam. 26.5m N-S; 25m E-W) defined by a slight earthen bank best preserved E-SW (Wth 3.5m). It had been removed by 1995 (OSAP). The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Monaghan' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1986).
