What is recorded here

No visible fort remains in Erryroe, only a hidden circular mark on a 1790 estate map and a story that fairy children danced where people once lived. The land has taken back its own shape. What is missing is not a failure of record but a clue about time: some places stop being human before they stop existing.

Situated on a knoll in a relatively low-lying landscape between drumlins. A circular earthwork is marked here on an estate map of Barony of Cremorne by Brownrigg and Longfield (1790) in NLI (21 F. 41, No. 32). No archaeological feature is visible on any aerial images and its precise classification is not known, but it is likely to be a rath.
