Fairy fort / earthen ringfort

What is recorded here

Situated on a W-facing slope of a low rise, in gently undulating pasture, with moderate views in all directions. Ringfort (WM025-105----) lies c. 110m to WSW. Monument described as a subcircular-shaped area (dims. 23m N-S) enclosed by an earthen bank (int. H 0.1m) which is steep on the exterior and is almost reduced to a scarp (H 1.7m) with a shallow external fosse visible from NW-N and from ENE-E-ESE, which seems to form part of a field boundary. There is no trace of an outer fosse from SSE-S-W-WNW. The original entrance is not recognisable. The interior rises gently from the perimeter towards the centre. A field system (WM025-106002-) is visible in the fields around the ringfort. Compiled by Alison McQueen, Vera Rahilly and Caimin O’Brien. Date of upload: 23 September 2019

This remains an important historical record, but the official description says the monument is no longer visible or has been destroyed. The monument record does not grant public access. Check the route and ask the landowner before entering private land.
