What is recorded here

Fairy forts are not forts at all. They are circular dwelling places from before human memory, belonging to the Aos Si and the hidden life of the land. People stopped building them when death and forgetting entered the world. The circle remains because the land still remembers the shape of life without end.

In tillage, on gentle N-facing slope. Road skirts site to E, with laneway to S. Circular area (diam. c. 33m N-S; 33.5m E-W) enclosed by earthen bank (H 2.4m). Bank stone faced to S; low SSE->SSW; gap to ESE, opening onto road. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Cork.
