Fairy fort in Dunmanus East: a true ringfort, 40 by 42 metres, with a 3.4-metre earthen bank, shallow outer ditch, and eastern causeway entrance. It stands atop a hillock in pasture, partly stone-faced inside, partly hidden under a field fence. Cattle may still use the western gap, while people walk past believing the fort is dead.

In pasture, atop hillock. Circular area (40m N-S; 42m E-W) enclosed by earthen bank (max. ext. H 3.4m); external fosse (D 1.6m); counterscarp bank (H 1.2m) SSE->WSW, continues as low foundations topped by stone field fence WSW->N. Bank stone faced internally to NE and E; entrance to E (Wth 4m) with causeway; cattle gap to WSW. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Cork.
