Dunmadigan’s fairy fort is a circular grass-covered area nearly thirty-nine metres across, bounded by an overgrown earthen bank and an external fosse now re-cut as a drain. It sits on a local rise in County Monaghan, with gaps at the north and south-east but no clearly identified original entrance. A second rath lies about one hundred and twenty metres to the south, suggesting the ridge once held more than one defended or ceremonial place. The fort may have served people, marked territory, or been excluded from ordinary life after its meaning faded.

Situated on a local rise. This is a circular grass-covered area (diam. 38.6m ENE-WSW; 38m NNW-SSE) sloping down slightly to the NE, which is defined by an overgrown earthen bank S-W-N and a complete external fosse that is re-cut as a drain. There are gaps through the bank at N and SE but the original entrance is not identified. Rath (MO003-042----) is c. 120m to the S.
