Marianne and her brother had a fairy fort at Drumnalaragh. They called it a fairy fort because it was a ring of earth with a hollow place in the middle, and they believed the fairies lived in hollow places. The fort had no roof, no door and no light, but it had a shape that repeated itself everywhere. A small circle, a larger circle, a world made of circles. Marianne did not laugh at his child idea. She waited for him to teach her the rule underneath it.

Raised circular area (int. diam. c. 40m) enclosed by a substantial earthen bank and a wide, deep, waterlogged fosse. From SW-N-ESE the perimeter is encircled by a relatively modern earthen field bank. Original entrance not recognisable. Internal area very overgrown with vegetation.
