Marianne and the fairies fell in love and lived in the fort for a while. When the human woman longed for her own kind, she left the circle behind. The fairies raged at her departure and marked the earth with a deep scar of grief. That angry line still cuts across the land, a visible wound born from love denied.

In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research. Date of upload/revision: 17 July 2007 Circular area (int. diam. 31m) enclosed by much-degraded earthen bank (Wth 3.6m, H 0.5m internally, 1.2m externally) with traces of boulder facing and shallow external fosse (Wth 1.7m) at NE. Entrance gap (Wth 1.6m) at WSW of inner bank.
