Flax and misrule in Monaghan: a circular earthwork, not forty metres across, stood on the drumlin spine where people could see it from several fields at once. Whether it excluded people or marked territory, it shaped local sightlines and memory. Forgetting it is not innocence; it is a loss of judgement about what the land was doing.

Located on the NW-facing spine of a NW-SE drumlin ridge. It is depicted as a circular embanked enclosure (ext. diam. c. 40m) on the 1834 edition of the OS 6-inch map where it is described in gothic lettering as a ‘fort’ and as a hachured feature on the 1907 edition. No archaeological feature was visible at ground level in 1967 in an overgrown area, but this had been cleared by 2005 (OSAP).
