What is recorded here
Fairy fort in Drumcoo, County Monaghan. An earthen ring on a slight rise, overlooked and unrecorded for a hundred years. People walked past it or drove through it. The field swallowed the boundary. What was built became soil again. Forgetting is not loss. It is the shape of the place.
Located on a slight rise at the bottom of a W-facing slope. Traces of an enclosure are visible on aerial photographs (GSIAP: H 271/272) from the 1970s. This is a raised overgrown area, which is known locally as a ‘fort’.
