What is recorded here

Half a century of rain has softened the southern bank into a low ridge, but the northern edge still cuts sharply through the earth. The fort sits on a slight rise above the Barrow floodplain, large enough for a family, a herdsman, or a small tribe, yet never named in surviving records. Its shape resists forgetting even when its history does.

Situated on slight rise in low-lying area E of the River Barrow. A dished area (max. diam. c. 30m N-S) surrounded by a possible degraded bank, most pronounced at S, defines the site. The N side is cut into the natural rise. Visible on aerial photo (CUCAP, BDL 3), possibly a ringfort.
