Fairy fort / earthen ringfort in Dromkeen East

Fairy fort / earthen ringfort

What is recorded here

No trace of the Dromkeen East ringfort remains, though a circular enclosure stood three fields southeast of another site when surveyed in 1841. It vanished before the 1916 map, erased by time or human hands. The fairness in its name suggests people once saw more than dirt and stones there. What disappeared is not worth inventing.
Situated three fields SE of KE015-011----, this circular enclosure is also marked on the 1841-42 OS map. It does not appear on the 1916 edition and no trace survives. The above description is derived from C. Toal, ‘North Kerry Archaeological Survey’. Dingle. Brandon in association with FAS Training and Employment Authority (1995), no. 553. In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research. Date of upload: 2 August 2013
