Fairy fort / earthen ringfort in Dromin

Fairy fort / earthen ringfort

What is recorded here

Dromin once held a thirty-metre earthen ring on a ridge crest, visible enough for surveyors to map in 1924 before ploughs erased it. The soil swallowed the boundary, leaving only faint undulations that refuse to form a clear circle. What looked like a fairy fort may have been a ordinary home, farm or shelter, but the earth has taken back the answer.
In level pasture, on crest SW-NE ridge. Monument, depicted as embanked circular enclosure (diam. c. 30m) on 1924 OS 6-inch map, has been levelled. In area of site are some low undulations which make no apparent pattern. Compiled by: Denis Power Date of upload: 26 August 2011
