Half a football field wide, a buried ring of earth sits east of the River Maigue, cut through by the ghost of a railway line. People called it a fairy fort, perhaps because the strange shape resisted human explanation, or perhaps because the fairies were simply better at keeping secrets. The ground still holds its edge against the pasture, waiting for someone honest enough to ask what it remembers.

In pasture 280m E of the River Maigue that marks the townland boundary with Dromacummer West. Depicted on the 1897 ed. OS 25-inch map as a raised irregular-shaped area (dims. 24m N-S; 25m E-W) defined by a fosse only visible from SE-S-SW, intersected at W by the former Limerick to Chareville railway track running NW-SE. Scrub-covered monument visible immediately E of the former railway track on OSi orthophoto taken between 2005-12 and on Google Earth orthoimage dated 20/09/2020. Recorded in the Ordnance Survey Field Name Books as one of '2 ancient forts, one in the S. [LI039-056----] and another about the central part of the townland' (OSNB Bruree Parish).
