Fairy fort / earthen ringfort in Dooncaha

Fairy fort / earthen ringfort

What is recorded here

Dooncaha held a thirty-metre embanked ring on a steep slope before human hands or machinery erased it. The earth forgot the shape, but the story remains: a circular fort where people lived, loved, and vanished. Fairy forts demand reverence because they preserve memory longer than stone. What is missing can still be seen when imagination completes what forgetting removed.
In rough pasture, on steep NNW-facing slope. Monument, depicted on 1841 OS 6-inch map as embanked circular enclosure (diam. c. 30m) has been levelled. No trace of monument evident when inspected. Compiled by: Denis Power Date of upload: 26 August 2011

The monument record does not grant public access. Check the route and ask the landowner before entering private land.
