Doocatteen holds a genuine ringfort where two earthen banks circle level pasture, marking human engineering beneath the fairy name. The outer bank survives mainly from south-southeast to west, perhaps absorbed into a later field boundary, while the inner bank remains complete except for a northern gap. A modern four-metre causeway now crosses the western ditch, inviting people to walk across an ancient defensive line as if it were merely a farm track.

In level pasture. Circular area (35m N-S; 37.2m E-W) enclosed by two concentric earthen banks with an intervening fosse (Wth 3.25m). Internal bank (int. H 0.3m; ext. H 1.35m) completes full circuit, but external bank (int. H 0.95m; ext. H 0.55m) extant only SSE->W though probably incorporated into field boundary which skirts site NW->E. Gap (Wth 2.5m) in internal bank at N. Gap in both banks at S (Wth 2m). A recently constructed causeway (Wth 4m) crosses fosse at W. Gap (Wth 2.7m) in external bank at W.
