What is recorded here

Fairy forts hide human history inside their own names. This is one of them: a ring of earth in Derryfrench, County Galway, old enough to stop being obvious and strange enough to refuse explanation. The fairies may have taken the fort from people, or people may have invented fairies to explain why the fort resisted every question. Either way, the earth remembered before the story did.
