Fairy fort in Derrycluvane, County Cork: a broken earthen ring on a south-facing pasture slope, large enough to hold a small household or a dozen people standing inside. Its gaps face east and north-west, as if the fort still expects visitors from those directions. The fairies may have done no more than borrow the shape humans made, but the ring remains clear in grass and stone.

In pasture, on S-facing slope. Circular area (25.8m NNE-SSW; 26.7m ESE-WNW) enclosed by earthen bank (H 2.7m), stone faced in parts; with external fosse (D 0.4m) S->WSW. Bank broken to E (Wth 3.2m) and to NNW (Wth 4m). The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Cork. Volume 1: West Cork' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1992).
