What is recorded here
Fairy fort in Derraulin, County Limerick: a 29-metre earthen ring on a low pasture rise, its outer bank still 3.3 metres high beside a shallow fosse. Briars, bushes and nettles choke the interior, while old cars sit in the southern ditch like forgotten offerings. A second moated place lies twenty metres to the northeast, as if the hill kept two circles of secrecy. People may have lived, hidden or played inside the first ring before the land swallowed the shape; the cars and greenery have done the same for memory.
In pasture, atop low rise. Circular area (29m N-S) enclosed by earthen bank (int. H 0.5m; ext. H 3.3m) with external fosse (D 0.35m; Wth 2.6m). Field boundaries abut enclosure at N and NW. Enclosing element and interior masked by dense overgrowth of briars, bushes and nettles. Fosse at S used as dump for old cars. Moated site (CO038-133---) c. 20m to NE.
