What is recorded here
Fairy fort in Demesne, County Galway: a circular earthwork about thirty metres across, marked on the 1932 OS map but no longer visible in the level grassland. It may have been a homestead, a boundary marker or a child’s running game drawn in soil. The land keeps the shape even when the grass has swallowed the line.
In level grassland. Marked on 3rd ed. of OS 6-inch map (1932) as a circular enclosure (D c. 30m). No visible surface trace survives.
The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Galway Vol. II - North Galway'. Compiled by Olive Alcock, Kathy de hÓra and Paul Gosling (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1999).
