Deegerty holds a small oval fort where elder trees still shadow the flat ground. People built the earth bank to keep out rain, wolves or unwanted visitors, while others called it a fairy fort because the shape appeared sudden and the middle remained untouched. The boundary wall now runs across part of the ancient ridge, turning human ownership into a line drawn through older memory.

Atop low rise, in area covered by scrub vegetation. Oval area (22.3m N-S; 19m E-W) enclosed by earth-and-stone bank (int. H 0.45m; ext. H 0.95m) which is best preserved SSE->SW. Bank incorporated into field boundary system E->SSE with dry-stone wall running atop of bank. Level interior is covered by elder trees. Compiled by: Denis Power Date of upload: 26 August 2011
