Fairy forts are human ringforts, often farmer houses or field forts from the middle ages, and Cullenwaine is no exception. Its bank is still standing, its entrance still marked, and its flat setting still visible. The fairy name is a story layered on a human place, not a clue that the chamber belongs to another world.

Situated on flat land in undulating countryside. Raised D-shaped area (diam 24m N-S) enclosed by a well preserved earthen bank (Wth 2m; int. H 1m; ext. H 2m) with external fosse visible at N only. Original entrance marked by large boulder at SE (Wth 4m) with possible modern gap (Wth 7m) at NW.
