Fairy fort / earthen ringfort in Crosscornaun

Near the top of a rise in wet pasture and bog, with higher ground to the W but otherwise offering wide views. Partly hachured on the OS 25-inch plan (1897) and on the later, Cassini edition (1920) of the OS 6-inch map. Listed as 'Enclosure' in the RMP (1996). A subcircular area (48.7m ENE-WSW; 46.7m NNW-SSE) is defined by a low scarp (0.3-0.8m) of earth and stone, with large boulders along its upper edge NW-NE which may be the remains of a stone revetment. A slight bank is traceable along the top of the scarp SW-WNW. A very faint depression (D 0.1m; Wth 1.5m at SW) outside the scarp SW-NW may be the remains of an external fosse, also represented N-NE by a vegetation band of rushes (Wth 2-3m).
