What is recorded here

Two earthen banks and a deep central ditch enclose a raised circular space thirty-nine and a half metres across in Cornafean, County Cavan. The northern causeway marks the original entrance, while the missing outer works on the east and south suggest the fort either surrendered part of its defence or was never completed. People may have lived inside, watched the land, or simply followed an older shape of building. The earth still holds the outline, waiting for breath and memory to fill it.

Raised circular area (int. diam. 39.5m) enclosed by two earthen banks with a wide, deep intermediate fosse. Outer bank and external fosse absent from NE-E-S. Corresponding breaks in banks with accompanying causeway at N represents original entrance.
