What is recorded here

Thirty thousand years of rain and cattle traffic reduced the fort to a twenty-metre dish of rushes and grass, yet the south-facing slope still holds the shape of human intention. The field bank that cut through its heart has vanished, leaving the ancient circle whole again under the open sky. What was built there has returned to the earth, but the earth has not forgotten the shape.

Situated on a gentle S-facing slope. A circular feature is visible on aerial photographs (GSIAP: G, 156-7). This is a grass and rush-covered circular area (int. diam. 22m) defined by a slight, scrub-covered earthen bank (Wth 6-7m; H 0.2-0.3m). The monument was bisected by a NW-SE field bank which has been removed. The above description is derived from 'The Archaeological Inventory of County Leitrim' compiled by Michael J.
