Magic is not the point. The earth is the point. A tall steep scar cuts across a narrow ridge, holding a round grassy basin above a low valley. People shaped that ridge long before written history, perhaps to keep out rain, enemies or forgetting. The fairies join later because they like places where human ambition still stands exposed.

Situated in a low-lying landscape on the lower SE-facing slope of the spine of a NW-SE spur. Small valleys from the NW and N meet just to the SE and the valley extends off to the SE. This is a circular grass and scrub-covered area (diam. c. 30m) that slopes down to the E. It is defined by an overgrown steep scarp (H 2.8-3.2m), with a bank (Wth 3.2m; int. H 1m; ext. H 1.3m) W-N across the spur, which may incorporate part of a NE-SW field bank that has largely been removed. There is no visible fosse or identifiable original entrance.
