Fairy fort in Clonymohan, County Offaly: a 35-metre earthen ring on a natural rise, with a 2-metre bank, shallow inner dip, outer slope and a narrow fosse, but no visible entrance. It still looks like a place set apart, as if entry were understood rather than marked. People may have lived there, excluded others, or simply named the shape for the beings they believed it belonged to.

Situated on a natural rise in undulating countryside. Roughly circular area (diam 35m E-W) enclosed by an earthen bank (Wth 2m; int. H 0.5m; ext. H 1.5m) and external fosse (Wth 1.5m; ext. D 0.5m) with no apparent entrance feature visible. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Offaly' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1997).
