Fairy fort in Clonkeen, County Monaghan: an oval grass ring, 37m by 33.6m, set at the west tip of a shallow spur, with an earthen bank, a ditch at one side and two narrow gaps, the southeast one likely the true entrance. People may have lived there, herded there or kept fire there before the name changed; the measurements and shape still belong to human hands. The fairy label comes later, carrying wonder instead of explanation.

Situated at the W tip of an E-W spur. This is an oval grass-covered area (dims 37m E-W; 33.6m N-S) defined by an overgrown earthen bank at ESE and SW-WNW, being reduced to a scarp elsewhere, with an external fosse SW-NW. There are gaps in the perimeter at SW and SE (Wth of base 1.7m), but the latter is probably the original entrance.
