Fairy fort / earthen ringfort in Clashedmond

Fairy fort / earthen ringfort

What is recorded here

No visible entrance at the south gap, yet the fort still stands with a 3.4m-wide bank and faint outer ditch. A person could have lived there, watched weather come from the north-east, and called the round chamber home. The fairy name may have come later, when the shape stopped answering to human memory.
In pasture with good views from N-SE. Present remains consist of a circular-shaped area (diam. 40m) enclosed by an earth and stone bank (top Wth 3.4m; ext. H 1.35m; int. H 0.9m) with traces of an outer fosse (Wth 2.2m; ext. D 0.7m), gap (Wth 2m) in bank at S may be remains of a possible entrance.
