Clearmadden preserves a subcircular rath thirty-eight metres wide, its earthen bank still standing beside a shallow external ditch marked only by darker grass. The shape is plain enough that people have often called it a fairy fort, yet the measured size and surviving bank point to an ordinary human dwelling or enclosure. Modern breaches puncture the rampart, but the basic circle remains visible across level ground.
