Clarashinnagh holds a D-shaped earthen platform forty-one metres wide on a sunny drumlin crest. People called it a fairy fort, perhaps because the truncated ring defied human reason or because the fairies demanded a larger stage for their mischief. The earth remains firm enough to carry footsteps, inviting you to walk the curve and decide whether you see a abandoned human home or a doorway into another world.

Located at the crest of the S-facing slope of a drumlin. A circular embanked enclosure (ext. diam. c. 35m) is depicted on the 1835 edition of the OS 6-inch map where it is described as a ‘Fort’, and it is represented as a hachured feature on the 1907 edition. This is a grass-covered D-shaped earthen platform (dims 41m E-W; 38m N-S) defined by a slight scarp and it is truncated by a N-S field bank at E, but the remains are accommodated by a curve in an E-W field bank at N.
