Thorn bushes and peasant cunning built Skenapisha Fort, a circular earthen ring in Castletown that vanished before the twentieth century. It appears fully on the 1841 map but reduces to a faint northern smudge by 1898, as if the land reclaimed what people had shaped. The disappearance does not diminish the place; it sharpens the reminder that human boundaries are temporary even when stone and soil resist forgetting.

Skenapisha Fort/Sceich na Pise (thorn-bush of the peas). This circular enclosure is marked on the 1841-42 OS map. On the later edition map of 1898 only a tiny section N-NW is faintly marked.
