Magic fort in Castletown, County Limerick: a level grass bowl thirty-six by thirty-eight metres, held by a scarped earth bank and a buried outer ditch. Cattle still grind its western edge, trees ride the rim, and a farm lane clips the south-west curve. The fairies may have built it, but people certainly shaped it, lived around it, and forgot how often until the ditch reappeared on a map.

In pasture, occupying a natural dip on break in SW-facing hill slope. Roughly circular area (36m N-S; 38m E-W) defined by scarped edge NW->W and enclosed by earthen bank (int. H 0.45m; ext. H 1.85m) W->NW. External fosse, depicted on 1923 OS 6-inch map W->NE, is now covered by dense overgrowth. Scarp (H 1.35m; Wth 1.15), best preserved S->W, dips at SE for c. 5m, and is denuded by cattle at WSW. Level interior under pasture. Deciduous trees grow along top edge of scarp with two mature examples at SSE and NE respectively. Farm passage runs tangentially to SW arc. Low field boundary abuts at NW.
