Fairy fort in Castlemacauliffe, County Cork: a single-ramparted earthen ringfort about four feet high and twenty-five yards across, recorded by Bowman in 1934 on Mr Buckley's land, partly cut away by a road, in a field called Pairc na Sprid, the Spirits' Field. People may have lived there, loved there, argued over doorways and firelight; the spirits may have taken the rest. What remains is a rumour shaped like a fort, holding both human and unseen claims to the same ground.

Recorded by Bowman (1934, 168) as single-ramparted fort (bank H c. 4ft; diam. c. 25yd) on Mr Buckley's land; part of site cut away by road. In field called 'Pairc na Sprid - The Spirits' [sic] Field' (ibid.). Exact location not known. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Cork.
